Wo endet der Wald und wo beginnt der Park? Wo liegt die schillernde Grenze zwischen Realität und Imitation?

Das Konzept des Gartens hat uralte und vielfältige Wurzeln auf der ganzen Welt aus unterschiedlichen kulturellen Perspektiven. In Europa nahmen Gärten im 16. Jahrhundert eine klarere Form an: als idyllische Landschaften, angelegt um privilegierte Eigentümer:innen des Landes herum – ein privater Raum, der Emotionen wecken und ästhetischen Prinzipien folgen sollte.

Gruss aus dem Park präsentiert eine Rauminstallation als Ergebnis ihrer kollektiven Recherche. Sie untersucht das Konzept von Parks in seinen verschiedenen Schichten – als Schauplatz sozialer und klassenbezogener Geschichte, als semiotisches Konstrukt und als Objekt der Anthropologie der Ruinen. Gezeigt werden dekorative Elemente des Parks, die teils mystischen, teils rein artifiziellen Charakter haben, keinen praktischen Zweck erfüllen, sondern Geschichte im Kontext von Freizeit und Unterhaltung repräsentieren. Die Elemente sind symbolträchtig aufgeladen, bleiben jedoch selbst leer.

In diesem Kontext wird der Park zu einem Raum der Dualität – sowohl künstlich als auch „natürlich“, kontrolliert und frei, real und simuliert. Er imitiert die Natur, den Lauf der Zeit und kulturelle Codes und bleibt doch ein von Menschenhand geschaffenes Konstrukt und eine Utopie. Ein idealisierter Raum, in dem Natur und Zeit nicht nur existieren, sondern gesteuert, komponiert und interpretiert werden.

Where does the forest end and the park begin? Where is the shimmering border between reality and imitation?

The concept of the garden has ancient and diverse roots all over the world from different cultural perspectives. In Europe, gardens took on a clearer form in the 16th century: as idyllic landscapes, laid out around the land of privileged owners – a private space designed to evoke emotions and follow aesthetic principles.

Gruss aus dem Park presents a spatial installation as the result of their collective research. It explores the concept of parks through its different layers – as a site of social and class history, as a semiotic construct, and as an object of the anthropology of ruins. Decorative elements of the park are shown, some of which have a mystical and others a purely artificial character and fulfil no practical purpose, but rather represent history in the context of leisure and entertainment. These elements are symbolically charged, yet remain empty.

In this context, the park becomes a space of duality – both artificial and ‘natural,’ controlled and free, real and simulated. It imitates nature, the passage of time, and cultural codes, yet remains a man-made construct and a utopia. An idealized space in which nature and time not only exist, but are controlled, composed, and interpreted.
