Es gibt wenige Situationen, in denen Faulheit öffentlich geregelt und akzeptiert ist, z. B. beim Feiern oder im Urlaub. Wir befinden uns in einer Gesellschaft, in der jede:r sich stets zu optimieren hat, in der es keinen Platz für im Bett Liegen ohne schlechtes Gewissen gibt. Faulheit wird als eine Untätigkeit beschrieben, die den Menschen seelisch, moralisch, körperlich und gesellschaftlich verkümmern lasse.
Unsere Rauminstallation lädt Besucher:innen ein, das Verhältnis zwischen Arbeit, Nicht-Arbeit und gesellschaftlichem Leistungsdruck zu hinterfragen. Inspiriert von Paul Lafargues Vision einer Kultur der Muße, wird Faulheit als Widerstand gegen die „Hustle Culture“ verstanden. In einer Welt, die von Überproduktion und Optimierungsdruck geprägt ist, soll die Installation einen Raum zur Reflexion bieten.

There are few situations in which laziness is publicly regulated and accepted, for instance when partying or on holiday. We live in a society in which everyone has to optimise themselves at all times, in which there is no room for lying in bed without feeling guilty. Laziness is described as an inactivity that causes people to wither mentally, morally, physically and socially.

Our installation invites visitors to question the relationship between work, non-work and social pressure to perform. Inspired by Paul Lafargue’s vision of a culture of leisure, laziness is understood as resistance to the ‘hustle culture’. In a world characterised by overproduction and the pressure to optimise, the installation is intended to offer a space for reflection.
